@TheBrancaShow@p41697538 The USA was a specifically English creation so im not entirely sure why the conditions in eastern Europe and Sicily matter.
If you want to see the other attempts at empire look at south America and some parts of Africa.
Didn't go so well.....
@TMFScottP Difficult to cut overall spending when your fuel, food and mortgage keep going up so i can see spending up with continued pessimism.
Discretionary obviously the one to suffer
@TTCSteve Wait for it to go quiet around the story and give him what he wants as you know its the best thing for western security.
Reality wins out, shame we have to have the tantrums first
@TTCSteve No growth, negative productivity gains in the public sector and higher inflation are all that Chalmers is buying with his spending.
They should have modelling but it doesnt take an RBA phd to see its adversely affecting the economy.
@TMFScottP@MakeMelbGreat I think he was saying gov should fire some beaureacrats and cut spending into a supply restricted sluggish non-productive economy.
Not sure why ON don't make this point.
RBA have told us demand is demand, let people drive the economy with wages rather than gov spending
@TTCSteve Saw a tweet of his reposted about a car jacking at gun point being a victimless crime which of course nonsense.
Hes seems disingenuous, dim and ultra progressive.
Odd choice..
Reform MPs are complaining that Restore handed the win to the Green's.
There is a certain level of arrogance here. Reform are owed nothing by the public, just the honesty of their vote.
It is Reform who handed the win to the Green Party, disregarding the opinions of many of their voters:
1. Treatment of Rupert Lowe
2. Softening policies
3. Recruiting architects of failure
4. Insulting Restore voters
If Reform would like to win an election, they will not do it through persistent arrogance and belittling of voters. They have tried this, it has not worked, now it just looks like a tantrum.
Not one Restore voter has changed their mind because Reform has insulted them.
These are the facts, do with them what you will.
@TTCSteve Very few people, if we judge by the podcasts, are aware of what he is actually trying to achieve. The narrative is nearly all about US debt burden and yields. Very far from the mark.....
@TTCSteve Agree on the whole with some carve outs on globalism which has hollowed out manufacturing and the working/middle classes and Trump partially ran on this in 2016 with Hilary talking about the deplorables.
@TTCSteve Parody but it definitely shouldnt be.
Listening to a video on the statute Hanson was civilly found guilty under for her tweet and i was a little shocked.
Australia needs to codify 1A.
@TMFScottP@RecoEco Is the concern fixed mortgages necessitate more meddling as opposed to it being possible?
RBA monetising debt is implied YCC which they did over covid so it already kind of happens.
Or is the concern that banks wont be able to hedge effectively domestically?
@TMFScottP@RecoEco The rate setting mechanism would presumably be the same as it is now just further out the curve, banks demanding a % above market that allows then to hedge duration risk.
Also RBA has less influence in the long end than short end so it would be closer to a real market rate no?
@TMFScottP Laws no i agree totally i am close to an absolutist though.
Parliamentary enquiry and censure though is a different question and I think if Hanson is censured then others should be also.
Looks like a witch hunt even if it isnt when we dont apply rules evenly.
@TMFScottP Can't moutn Queen Lizzy II as.. "racist empire built on stolen lives, land and wealth of colonised peoples".
Its about standards, you cant investigate one side of politics and not the other.
Her statement also begs the Q why she chooses to live in part of the 'racist empire'
