#causalinference has been an integral part of development for over 20 years but is rarely used in #conservation.
This is a problem!
If conservation interventions are going to work for both people and nature, we need an evidence base of what works.

@gcbc_org@DefraGovUK @KewScience @DAIGlobal Hello. The webinars posted for on the GCBC website both cut out after 30 minutes. Is there a way to access the complete recordings? Thanks
Thrilled to share our paper using a novel interactive game to study farmer responses to conflict interventions such as support for deterrent methods and innovative economic instruments. https://t.co/8AiTliDOw8 #ConFooBio@ERC_Research @ecologyandsociety1 1/10
We need to take #conservation to scale in order to #restorenature, but how to do it? Learning lessons from largescale #development interventions might help. New paper led by @henry_travers & funded by @oxford_GCRF shows how (free link: https://t.co/kRvuker3uT)
Come join our @GCRF_TRADE_Hub team working to understand #wildmeat#trade in #Central#Africa & building a research hub at #ERAIFT#DRC! Applicants from the region particularly encouraged, French & English languages required. Contact me with queries. https://t.co/3d9icBKSgJ
Disappointing that, in 2020, we're still writing "causal inference...is rarely used in conservation." But GREAT to see that more and more people doing work in this area! Check out this evaluation by @henry_travers@EJMilnerGulland @clementsti for #FLAREC20@FLAREglobal

@juliapgjones@ibis_rice The average individual plot size is about a hectare so with high resultion imagery new areas of clearance can be effectively identified. #FLARETC20
@juliapgjones@ibis_rice Through the programme's compliance monitoring system, which mostly uses remote sensing combined with on-the-ground follow up to identify the household responsible for clearance.
Our results show @ibis_rice works for participant farmers but landscape-level clearance is still high.
To increase impact at the landscape level, ⬆️take up of @ibis_rice should be encouraged.
