What a journey! Our time-resolved fluorescent proteins (tr-FPs) are now online. We hope they open a new lane for live-cell multiplexing—and become useful tools for many labs. Grateful to my co-authors, mentor @kfzhangxin , and reviewers. #trFPs#FLIM#STED
Time flies when you’re having a great time learning from all the experts. Can’t believe this is the last lecture from the course already. #EMBLSuperResolution
What a day! What a beautiful day to keep learning more about STED nanoscopy. I am certainly that kid in the candy shop! @EMBLEvents#EMBLSuperResolution.
A recent study by Xin Zhang @kfzhangxin group discovered that micropolarity governs the structural organization of multilayered biomolecular condensates. Using innovative fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) coupled with in-house developed environmental sensitive fluorophores, researchers in Zhang lab found that the micropolarity of each condensate subcompartment defines their arrangements and miscibility, both in test tubes and in live cells. The finding highlights the previously underestimated role of microenvironment in the regulation of multiphasic membraneless organelles.

@CalYeager@kfzhangxin Thank you, Calvin!! For always being there! I couldn’t have asked a better buddy to share this journey with. I can only thank the force for looking out for me.
What a wonderful Wednesday! My dear friend Henry defended his PhD thesis work completed with @kfzhangxin's lab. We spent years discussing work over lunch, in the mornings, the evenings, meetings, skype calls... I couldn't be prouder to tell Dr. Hsiung congratulations!
Since I started the lab in 2015, 5 years have passed. I value every moment at this great place. Today, I’m awarded tenure by Penn State. I want to thank colleagues, friends, family, all member of the lab, past and present. You made this happen! @psu_chemistry@BMB_PSU@PSUScience
Congratulations to Eberly researcher Xin Zhang @kfzhangxin of @BMB_PSU and @psu_chemistry on being honored with a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award by the National Science Foundation @NSF 👏👏👏 https://t.co/TbPYxTa0hD
A new microscope technique shows cells’ fine structure in new detail. The method, developed by Eric Betzig, Harald Hess + colleagues, combines 3D super-resolution fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy in whole cells. Published today in Science!

Today's episode of the #science#podcast#Curioscity features @BacterioFiles's Jesse Noar. Jesse shared his experience about working in industry and considerations that others should take when weighing industry as a career path. Get it at https://t.co/VT8dNeiLjT. #scicomm
I’m excited to share that our project on “proteome stress and recovery sensors” has been funded by NSF CAREER! Thanks to the hard work from my lab and the support from my department and colleagues!! @psu_chemistry@PSUScience
Happy to share that I have completed my MS thesis defense today! Thanks to all the constructive advice from my committee. Now get to work on final revision of the thesis. Also, very proud that I am now officially a PhD candidate in the @kfzhangxin lab!
Vetting antiviral drug candidates by analyzing single cells within a population may help predict classes of compounds with high barriers to resistance, according to a new study. https://t.co/4TfiEmc8fX
