@I_buy_bitcoin@fawfulfan are you seriously trying to argue that every judge and legal commentator since 1898 has misunderstood Wong Kim Ark but somehow you’re the big smarty pants who figured it out?
@I_buy_bitcoin@fawfulfan Yeah you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. If 14A only covered specific types of jurisdiction they would’ve put that limitation in the amendment. They didn’t and if you could read you’d be able to see that. Sorry cry harder.
@I_buy_bitcoin@fawfulfan Do you see how that’s a completely different conversation? We’re talking about birthright citizenship (a toddler could understand this btw). So to use your analogy, if a Mexican living in Mexico had a baby, that baby would not be a U.S. citizen.
@I_buy_bitcoin@fawfulfan Could you arrest a foreigner for robbing a bank? Or murder? Or being unlawfully present??? If so then they are subject to US jurisdiction.
@Huckleberry60@ZaidJilani See you’re doing it again. You’re inventing a distinction that doesn’t exist to argue that SCOTUS did something new and ~scary~ when it really just upheld the status quo that has existed since 1868.
@grey_worm5309@JohnCornyn Notice how you shifted the goalpost from the SAVE Act to generic voter ID laws? Voter ID laws are popular in general but once voters learn what the SAVE Act actually is (an unconstitutional poll tax that will disenfranchise millions) turns out they actually hate it!
@grey_worm5309@JohnCornyn political debate must be so easy as a republican because you can just make up numbers that sound good for your side and pass it off as a poll
@jenjenhall17@RyanLan04214169@marceelias also you’re just straight up wrong about your claim. half the lawsuits made it to merits hearings but they still lost because no arguments had any legal merit
@jenjenhall17@RyanLan04214169@marceelias i don’t think you understand standing. you either have it or you don’t. it is unconstitutional for any federal court to “void” standing
@jenjenhall17@RyanLan04214169@marceelias You sure about that? There have already been 62 lawsuits and every single one was tossed out because there’s no evidence. biden won, cry harder
@_MortalMonkey@SewerSocialism What? None of these policies have been implemented because cons like you got their way.
And look where all your rightwing policies got us.
@AbolitionEsq Usually when you’re an editor on law review you have to write a note and then the executive board picks a handful (the best ones) to be published. Not sure if that’s how they do it at Harvard but that’s how my law review worked.
@Dedwrinkle@fred_guttenberg@SpanbergerForVA Honestly the fact that Rs lost NH-02 and ME-02 is not a gerrymandering thing. Those are rural areas. Pure skill issue on your part
@Anarcho_Econ@YDHWBSNSKJDVDJE@LilithLovett Can everyone afford to hire a private inspection firm for this? People looking for apartments (i.e., poor)?
If you’re not rich enough to afford an inspector, do you not deserve clean water?
Again, your argument has a lot of problems that are very easily solved by regulation.
@Anarcho_Econ@YDHWBSNSKJDVDJE@LilithLovett Do you really think a renter touring apts just intuitively knows there’s lead in the water? A lot of people are going to get sick before the slumlords get caught.
If only there was some mechanism preventing these properties from ever infecting the market in the first place 🤔
