@r1ixcky In this case, because the movie is completed, I work off of screengrabs exclusively. Sometimes there is background art I can get my hands on. I usually redraw the characters though to improve resolution.
Was Christopher Nolan the first to end his movies like that? You know, with the score that keeps on building against lots of cross-cutting and a monologue? (TDK, Interstellar, etc) Surely he wasn’t? Seems to be a trend now though.
There are, of course, many many other things but you may find that most of the things you are thinking of are SUBJECTIVE. I tried to answer this from more of an objective angle. My subjective answer would be a bit different.
3. Intention: IMO this is the most important. Did you make what you intended to make? Did you satisfy the brief? While exploration is important, you should always intend to make the best thing you can. Don’t be satisfied with mediocre work.
