Through their agency, @OfficialMONSTAX shared on August 18:“Before our comeback on September 1, we wanted to give Monbebe (the official fan club) a special gift, so we decided on this pre-release. The music video for ‘Do What I Want’ will soon be out, and it contains many new sides of us and fun elements we’ve never shown before. We ask for your warm love and support.”

Entertainment, MONSTA X will release the pre-release track “Do What I Want” from their new mini album The X on August 18 at 6 p.m. through various music sites.

The new song “Do What I Want” is a hip-hop track that captures MONSTA X’s self-assurance as they mark their 10th debut anniversary. Even with its minimal structure, the addictive hook, groovy bass, and rhythmic drums stand out.

Member Joohoney participated in writing and composing the song, while I.M contributed to the lyrics, delivering the message “I do what I want” in a raw, honest, and powerful way. Having stood firmly at the center of the K-pop scene for a decade, MONSTA X expresses their confidence not as ones “trying to look strong,” but simply as a “naturally strong presence.” This raw energy is refined into a sophisticated texture that gives listeners a thrilling catharsis.

The music video, released simultaneously with the track, will capture the spontaneity and straightforwardness of the theme “Do What I Want.” MONSTA X unleashes a fearless, well-earned confidence that only a team that has “tried everything and accomplished everything” can show, enhancing both the fun of watching and listening. The teaser, revealed on August 16, already delivered a refreshing shock to global fans, raising expectations for the full version.

The new album The X, dropping September 1, encapsulates MONSTA X’s 10-year journey. The title The X means “the one complete unknown variable,” pointing to endless possibilities and new directions. At the same time, it connects to the Roman numeral X (10), symbolizing their 10th anniversary.

To mark this meaningful anniversary, MONSTA X will present a total of six tracks, starting with the pre-release “Do What I Want,” followed by the title track “N the Front,” and additional songs including “Savior,” “Tuscan Leather,” “Catch Me Now,” and “Fire & Ice.” With this, they’re set to heat up the music scene in the second half of the year.
