Andy Burnham has already
Ruled out Nationalisation
Ruled out rejoining EU
Ruled out PR
Ruled out borrowing more
Ruled out higher taxes
So he has ruled out spending more
He has ruled out changing immigration rules
So no need for fantasies that he will.
Two Conservative peers have introduced Private Members' Bills that would force reassessments for many PIP claimants, restrict disability benefits to British citizens, and remove LCWRA support for under-22s.
Before anyone panics, Private Members' Bills rarely become law, especially when introduced by opposition politicians without government backing.
But it tells us something important about the direction some politicians would like to take disability policy.

It seems only a very small - tiny - number of people can see / acknowledge what the Covid pandemic is doing to population health. What do we do with that knowledge when no one wants to listen to us / hear it? Is the truth even true if nobody acknowledges it?
Why Do Some People Still Wear Masks In 2026 And On A Completely Unrelated Note Why Is Everyone In The Office Sick Right Now Apart From The Guy In The Mask?
Groceries are somehow twice as expensive as they were a few years ago.
And yet the fruit goes bad in two days, the vegetables look exhausted, and half the stuff tastes worse than I remember.
Paying premium prices for declining quality is a special kind of insult.
Last thing she told me. I think about it constantly.
She said: I spent my whole life thinking I was a smart woman who kept failing at easy things. The diagnosis didn't fix me. It just finally told me the truth.
I was never failing. I was running a race nobody told me I was in, carrying weights nobody could see.
Then she grabbed my hand and said don't wait as long as I did to forgive that kid. She never did anything wrong. She just never got handed the manual. And neither did you.
The voice in your head, she said. The one calling you lazy and stupid and too much...
That voice isn't yours. Somebody handed it to you when you were small, somebody who had no idea what they were even looking at.
You've been quoting a stranger your whole life. She said you're allowed to stop.
The biggest scam isn't taxes. It's the promise that hard work leads somewhere.
Millions of people are doing everything right.
Working full-time.
Paying taxes.
Staying out of debt.
Budgeting carefully.
And are still one unexpected bill away from financial panic.
That's not people failing.
That's the system failing people.
Why do some people lose all spatial awareness in public spaces? Why is your trolley parked sideways, blocking the entire aisle? Why are you standing in the middle of the doorway like it's your first time on earth? And why are you blasting loud music on a public bus???
@CovidSolidarit1 I get several requests per year to discuss my Covid research over lunch 🤦♂️
It's really weird. Like, if you see me, there is a respirator on my face.
"Dr Naeem Ahmed, 50, a consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine, was found slumped in a chair in the anaesthetist's on-call room at Poole Hospital in Dorset on 21 June 2025. Two syringes and a half-empty bottle of Jameson whiskey were discovered nearby."
Jesus....
Yes, our vulnerable & disabled would become homeless, unablevto buy essential aids, specialist foods, some prescription items, unable to reguster for some help if homeless, die in pain in degradation. Whately & Badenoch don't care. @patmcfaddenmp
Who heard of screwworms before the recent outbreak? That's the point. We have scientific experts working on health issues behind the scenes that we know nothing about in order to keep us healthy & safe. The next pandemic is right around the corner. I trust scientists not Trump.
@BlokeOnWheels Also they fail to mention the ones leaving PIP - recovered, denied or dead.
Which is the DWP version of snog, marry and murder-but-make-sure-you-hide-the-body.
@brownecfm Only subjects I can see these effects from are my wife & I who had our only known covid xmas '22 (covid can be asymptomatic ofc).
Both of us since then have the forgetting common words & names thing. And lots of silly 'accidents' at home.
I'm convinced its cog dys as you say.
