Comes as a huge shock to everyone - apart from the “negative, disruptive fans who’ve predicted it all year.
As I’ve said before - this would be the the consequence of allowing mediocrity and was called all sorts.
Anyone who defended Howe this season deserves this.

It’s fairly simple.
Howe has mega overachieved in the previous seasons with the help of unbelievable recruitment and making bang average players a lot better than what they should be. He’s, also had the best striker in the league with the best back up poacher in the league too. Bruno could play for anyone also.
Howe in summer 2024 was flirting with the idea of going to England, although England had absolutely no interest in him becoming manager. Saudi hired their own man who was bang on about recruitment to an extent. Wrong & right at the same time. Howe felt challenged and annoyed, ego clash. After he won the cup Howe got the keys to the club.
Mitchell left a day after the season ended because he knew what was coming last summer. A manager set in his way with his “small pool of players” that improve us. Mitchell getting in the cross fire for Isak’s new contract, which Isak would have left for Liverpool regardless if he got one or not & has been thrown under the bus about Trafford. Trafford signed for Man City 8 weeks after PM left Newcastle.
Every signing apart from the Thiaw and Ramsey were 6/7 down the list. Howe constantly knocks back the recruitment teams targets, he also wanted his nephew to lead the summer last season which he did. Steve Nickson, instrumental in the Bruno, Isak and Botman signings was thrown on sales.
Howe’s intentions has always been not to sell players, Leeds offer for Longstaff was actually on the table for 5 weeks before he brought him self to accept it. Didn’t want Pope or willock to move on either. Tried his hardest to convince Wilson to stay on too. 4 goalkeepers needed for some reason, Lascelles also staying on then magically thrown out the club with no thankyou, strange.
Last season basically showed the effects of a Howe lead summer, players bored of the same tactics, same excuses, same set up and same training sessions. A pre season where they only won a behind closed door game against Carlisle.
This is a collective though, Howe was absolutely shocking last season. PIF supposedly have a team of 50 people working day to day on the club. Howe has masked the incompetency from the club by over achieving. When Howe hits his ceiling, when old players aren’t good enough anymore, when bang average players who have been playing above their capabilities it unravels everything. Everyone has to do better. Fulham away was 35 days ago and we’ve lost Tripps, Krafth, Gordon & Ramsdale, who is shit but we can’t be expecting Jaouen to be ready. Tonali will go to spurs soon. Pre season is 2 weeks away & the squad is fucking shit.

A reminder that a big section of our fanbase want this, they aren't arsed, as long as Howe keeps his job they're happy, we're about to finish bottom half after spending £200m in the summer and they'll still be happy that Howe's staying, a fanbase full of spineless losers
Absolutely sick to death of being treated like paying fans shouldn’t get to call out this bloke on £9m A YEAR who can’t motivate a team anymore. The defences of this season have been utterly embarrasing and this group of lads are a joke
TV pundits will have their say on #NUFC and what should happen next. But they don't watch Newcastle every week, they are chiming in as per a TV broadcast schedule.
Sit on a train on the way back from an away match and you will get a real reflection on what fans think.
It's not even so much complaints, it's concern at throwing away leads, baffling substitutions/selection and the lack of a Plan B.
The same mistakes keep unfolding and 14 Premier League losses and 14th place after a £220m + spend is louder than the opinion of anybody.
Fans will always be grateful to Eddie Howe and the respect is still there.
But what is the plan moving forward?
Newcastle still have some very talented players but that was a strange display at Selhurst Park.
At the minute it just looks like we're muddling through.
