With all of the Odyssey/Christopher Nolan chatter on his shit film, there has been a lot of things said about the Odyssey not having happened and that myth is made up so why bother bitching, etc, etc. As a Hellenic Polytheist and hard polytheist at that for the Archaic Period view of the religion, I feel I need to make a point clear on the matter.
I believe in the core myths, including the Homeric and Hesiodic works. These are religious texts and the Archaic Greeks all knew the stories and abided by them as Gods given. The families followed the practices and the stories likewise reflected the worship of the people.
So I do believe in the core myths. All of them.
The Gods, the Centaurs, the Graeae, the Daemon and the Cyclops. The Fates, the Gorgon, the Titans and the Underworld. Believing in them is the key to understanding the religion after all. You cannot know the religion and practice without believing the stories as this is how the religion was related from person to person.
Do I believe that Odysseus faced Polyphemus and Scylla? Yup. Do I believe Icarus flew on his wings too high and fell to Earth? Yup. Do I believe in the Argonauts? You better believe it. This is how we know the Gods.
There is literally no reason to challenge the myths or try to find hidden meaning in them if you want to follow the faith. There is no benefit. To say “Show me a Cyclops” has absolutely no benefit except to say that you doubt the Gods and only proof of a Cyclops will enable you to believe.
Are they hidden from view in modernity? Sure, maybe. Are they on a Godly plane of existence? Sure. Are they just magically invisible? Why not. It doesn’t matter. Know the stories and enjoy your life with the Gods.
So I literally do not bother. Knowing the tales and how they unfold is the key to exploring the relationship with the Gods. Knowing the direction the goat head on a Chimera is facing gives us nothing, nor what time period they lived, if at all.
Happy New Year, Καλή Χρονιά, to all and best wishes in the New Year. May the Gods view you justly and with favour, and may we all prosper in 2026!
@esjesjesj Original Trek wasn't woke. It preached equality and was pretty conservative otherwise. Leftism is about the destruction of society, communism and nihilism. They are not the same.
We need to free Harvey Weinstein.
This shit all started when they airlifted his blob body out of Hollywood.
He has the power to bring back hot bitches TV.

Star Trek was always a terrible threat.
Communist and authoritarian rule under a military globohomo council.
This is somehow worse than even ST Discovery.
Gimme Tatooine, a couple of Twi'lek slave girls and a Hutt pirate port any day. No need to watch language for fatties.
Anyone who has ever been in the military knows how much criticism of the body plays a part in morale, competition and effectiveness.
This is a complaint by a blue haired fat.
Exactly. Anytime you see them in action this is pretty much how they patrol. 3 inch spacing, caring about nonsense. Perfect for one munition to take out a whole platoon, then they do the same shit the next day.
Makes me think of my time teaching Afghans to not be retards and failing.
@Valtazzzar@heavyspoilers No. That bastard dragged his ass milking money from the books and died. Sanderson only finished it roughly knowing what he wanted. Jordan could have cut the last two books he did and wrapped up the story nicely instead of pulling some Dickensian bloat.
