@geoffreylitt I think CA would say the problem isn’t postmodernism or modern art but architects thinking their job is to make ✌️Art✌️ of any sort, when their job is to design spaces that humans want to be in
@hanbzu Some key questions I go back and forth on are: (1) should this be part of the relay server, or a totally separate thing? And (2) should it be totally generic, like the relay, or should it be optimized for a particular CRDT (eg automerge or crdx)
Things I Would Do as President of the US (not boring)
1. Aggressively weaponize immigration. Just brain drain the world as aggressively as possible. You're 24 yo estonian with a PHD in materials science? Congrats ur a citizen in 7-10 business days. You like baseball now.
Maybe your codebase and technical choices aren’t the only thing holding you back. There are probably assumptions someone made long ago about the problem space that could bear rethinking.
This is good advice. A third option that I think is often overlooked is to leave thing 1 in place, while starting *completely* over with a thing 2 that approaches the original problem with a truly blank slate. A couple of examples here: https://t.co/vXdk0NzEX8
“A good morning window looks out on some kind of constant object or growing thing, which reflects the changes of season and the weather, and allows a person to establish the mood of the day as soon as he wakes up.”
Rest In Peace, Christopher Alexander.
