PLEASE SHARE🙏🏾 | One-year-old Naomi Chigwada is ill and urgently needs a liver transplant, and her family is appealing for help to raise US$18,000 for her life-saving treatment.

Naomi cannot receive the transplant in Zimbabwe because the procedure is not available locally. Her only chance is to travel to India, where one of her parents can be the living donor, allowing the transplant to be done without a long waiting list.

The money raised will cover the cost of the transplant, as well as travel and accommodation for Naomi and her parents during treatment.

This is one of the reasons I keep fighting for change in Zimbabwe. A close relative of mine had Traumatic Brain Injury here in USA, they had to cut a big chunk of his skull and stored it a freezer for 2 months. He was in a comma for weeks. They put back the skull. Took him through rehab. Right now he is 95% back.

The level of specialty care that he received, from being airlifted to the trauma center, to the surgeries and ICU care was unprecedented. He is alive today because there was a functional healthcare system.

I reflect on this and wonder what would have happened had this happened to him in Zimbabwe. He most probably would be dead, and the majority would be mourning at the funeral saying "Mwari vaita kuda kwavo!"

What I have learnt here is that once the healthcare system is involved people don't just die. There is always an attempt to save the life. So, when I see the ZANU PF's food scavengers going up the hill shouting about an x-ray machine, I feel sad. Development is intentional, deliberate and planned.

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has issued a Pastoral Letter to the Nation, calling on all Zimbabweans to safeguard constitutionalism, peace, and national cohesion.
