I leave some parts untouched just cause I dont see any adjustments to be made. so theres old and new brush strokes around

to clarify, retouching old paintings isn’t necessarily an improvement check. I do it mainly for personal art that features an OC so it’s more of a “how I’d paint this character now” indulgement for myself

when I lose confidence in my work I like to revisit old paintings and use them as a base for me to paint over. its relaxing for me and doesnt require much effort or expectations. I still keep the old versions somewhere. I don’t resent old work…
