@aliromman I asked it a basic question regarding my ancestry and it switched to Opus 4.8 - I was confused, but seeing this helps me understand. So far, it's been OK on my coding needs - which are relatively basic - hopefully Anthropic can improve / relax it (the sooner the better).
Work? Taxed to oblivion
Sell? Taxed to oblivion
Buy? Taxed to oblivion
Die? Taxed to oblivion
And now… save? Taxed to oblivion
There is no point doing the right thing any more in the UK.
Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm show on Amazon is the most radicalizing piece of mainstream media I’ve ever seen
Just one example (bear with me):
Badgers became a protected species in Britain 40+ years ago.
The population has exploded and now frequently transmits tuberculosis to cows
But farmers can’t cull the badger population to protect their cattle because the government still considers them to be endangered
Instead of addressing the root cause, the UK has the most batshit testing regime for cattle
There’s no TB vaccine. So the cattle have to get tested. The vets administering the test have to measure welts on the cows neck. Whether a cow lives or dies comes down to a vet trying to discern 1mm on a caliper (reactive vs non reactive).
If a cow tests positive, the farm (already running on super thin margins) is quarantined and starts hemorrhaging money.
Jeremy Clarkson’s cow (pregnant with twins) has an inconclusive test so it’s separated from the herd. It receives a second inconclusive test so they have to kill it (before it can give birth to the twins).
Now here’s the kicker: the autopsy reveals no sign of TB. It was a healthy cow needlessly killed
So - silver lining the farm should be removed from quarantine, right? WRONG - it’s still under quarantine and has to keep testing and can’t sell its beef
Kafkaesque doesn’t even begin to describe how f’d up it is for British farmers
Elected because he promised a managerial, tough minded style of government, with a laser like focus on real problems rather than ideological posturing.
Also elected - by a quirk of the FPTP system - as a result of voters moving not to the left but the right.
Yet he immediately began to govern as if trying satisfy every far left activists fever dreams. Bashing the farmers, private schools, veterans, publicans and restaurateurs, yet bunging money to favoured unions with no requirement for reform - including train drivers still insisting on using fax machines - and emptying truckloads of cash into a wholly unreformed NHS, despite clear pre election pledges never to do that.
Meanwhile taxes soared, entrepreneurs fled and job creation ground to a halt.
But the biggest thing was the boats. The number one issue at the last election and the core reason that the Tory party lost power. He promised that his stern crime busting past - and amazing diplomatic skills with the French - would work better than Tory gimmicks. And we believed him. This national security and social emergency should have been the absolute focus of his first year with Covid style weekly briefings and a 'whatever it takes' ruthlessness, as recently recommended - yet again - by Tony Blair.
But he didn't. He allowed it to drift on for two years while Harmer and others over-prioritised international human rights regulations written in the 1950s and wasted time and energy on nonsense like Chagos and pursuing soldiers who had served in Northern Ireland.
Out, out, you lame and useless servant. No tears for you, only tiers.
Keir Starmer never talked about Rhiannon Whyte or Wayne Broadhurst
He took 6 months to even mention Henry Nowak and when he did he called for calm, the murder shouldn’t be politicised and we should show respect
Look at those reactions in comparison to this from yesterday
It’s so obvious he despises white people and puts ethnic minorities above us every single time
The two tier response is emblematic of the two tier justice system in which white people are consistently discriminated against
Starmer and those like him are truly evil
Seems that you, #KeirStarmer, a lawyer, have apparently already convicted this guy. You've published his photo and already claim to know his MOTIVE ! After the Southport savagery you told us no info could be released about the suspect as it could cause his trial to collapse. And here you are confirming that you dictate to the judiciary promising " the full force of the law"
Please just GO NOW #TwoYearKeir
I thought we were told time and time again not to speculate on motive?
I thought we were not to politicise these sorts of events and inflame tensions?
This government constantly exposes its deep rooted two-tier hypocrisy, literally in black and white.
British politics for the past decade:
1. New Prime Minister arrives.
2. Same policies on immigration, economy, eco bs, crime as before.
3. Same civil service dysfunction & public discontents.
4. Forced out.
5. New Prime Minister arrives.
6. Repeat
Systematic change, not soap opera, is needed
@Keir_Starmer He may have mental health issues, and speculating about the case could prejudice the proceedings.
Using a tragedy like this to push your political beliefs shows exactly who you are.
A welcoming present just out this morning for a Mr A Burnham to underline just how limited his latitude as PM will be:
The UK government borrowed £23.3 billion last month, 30 per cent or £5.4 billion higher than a year earlier.
It was also more than the £18.8 billion expected by most economists and the £17.7 billion forecast by the Office for Budget Responsibility, the UK’s independent fiscal watchdog.
The interest payable on government debt rose to £11.7 billion, the highest ever recorded in any May.
@Keir_Starmer@AndyBurnhamGM Let's be honest Keir, Burnham stood on an anti-Starmer and anti-Starmer govt agenda. The word 'Labour' wasn't even on any of his campaign material...
