@irl_pluto Thank you for letting me know! Someone also informed me of that earlier so I left a tweet responding to this conversation correcting myself a couple hours ago. Still much appreciated
Crazy because her main point in this video wasn't even "criticism = misogyny" it was that women found a subgenre of game that they enjoyed and companies decided to take advantage of that by pumping out a bunch of slop games to market to them. Essentially saying that
@VoltageKnackles I hope you understand I'm not saying this because I'm trying to "cancel the gaming industry" or just point fingers and accuse misogyny, but there is still a legitimate difference in the way women and men are treated as customers and players within the gaming industry.
@VoltageKnackles Unintentional misogyny is still misogyny, which is why it is important to point out so that the behavior can be corrected.
Some women may naturally have a preference for cozy games, but there aren't many other games that are marketed specifically towards women.
@allenvonghornet That's fine and fair, your original tweet was just confusing because the way you framed it made it seem like that was the only takeaway from the video, and several of the people reacting to your tweet were running with that assumption.
Also was just informed Izzyzzz uses they/them pronouns which I wasn't aware of so I apologize for my incorrect usage of pronouns! Unfortunately can't edit the tweet because I'm not paying for twitter blue but going forward I will ensure I'm gendering them correctly.
@miaisbestgirl12 Mobile does lean heavily towards women, but PC gaming is between 45-50% women according to more recent estimates.
And yes, that's the point. They are different audiences. But whereas men get a wider array of high quality options, women are marketed games of overall lower quality
@miaisbestgirl12 Most samples estimate that women make up 46-52% of gamers. And the claim that women are "more picky" is just an opinion, not fact.
Someone pointing out the discrepancy between how male vs female gamers are treated by companies isn't playing victim.
She touched on a couple other aspects of misogyny in the gaming industry overall so like, while I think it's fine if people don't like the video boiling it down to "women says we can't criticize games because misogyny!" completely misses the point of much of what she discussed
They don't think their audience of women is worth putting in effort for and they'd rather just take a quick buck, whereas men have a much broader range of games marketed specifically towards them that are often higher in quality. Hence the misogyny aspect.
@isgoodactually@snobriquet@SouthsideTilly You didn't answer their question, you just deflected by insulting them. Probably because some part of you does understand that the violent acts that men fantasize about are not, in fact, natural or necessary for our species' "propagation". Vanilla sex gets the job done just fine.
this stupid discourse aside can we please stop using this gif of a person with downs syndrome to call people idiots. you guys act woke but treat the disabled as a punchline
The problem with this "you just need to advocate for yourself" bs is that doctors, notoriously, do not listen to women. Especially women from underprivileged communities. Should they just suck it up and suffer in silence forever?
I’m gonna say it - sorry, so many of you are acting like you are completely helpless when it comes to your own care. You need to advocate for yourself by TELLING YOUR DOCTOR AHEAD OF TIME that you experience pain during paps and they will give you medication. They do not assume every patient has pain therefore they are not giving out meds to everyone who gets a pap. Ask. For. Meds. If they say no, you’re very much able to decline to get the pap.
AND they will not sedate you. Sedation turns a 10 minute out patient procedure into a day long endeavor of them monitoring you after you wake.
@evristainted@cutesy_kuromiii Because they don't. You've viewed a small portion of the population and are generalizing based on that. And even then, those women often aren't bi; the majority of unicorn hunters are straight people, and bi women are typically the ones being pursued.
@fiant_christina @JJDeals01 @leshaami I did not say science defines when life starts. I said it defines a fetus and child as two separate things (an offspring that develops and grows inside the womb vs. a human being between the stages of birth and puberty). Therefore, to claim it is an "unborn child" is disingenuous
@JJDeals01 @leshaami An "unborn child" is not a child, it is a fetus. Some may develop an emotional connection to their fetus and consider it a child, but, scientifically and often legally, it is not. The problem is that you are conflating emotional attachment with reality.
