Grandma Vet Mission

EMERGENCY MISSION

Army veteran Amir was honorably discharged as an E-4 from the Army, with 70% disability.

His world, as he knew it, came crashing down around him last month, with the death of his Mother, whom he describes his “best friend.”

In addition to paying for her burial, his family expanded overnight from 2 kids, to 4, when he was tasked with taking in his 2 youngest siblings.

Our veteran is employed, in addition to his VA pay.
His landlord has agreed to give him to Friday to catch up $3k rent arrearage, and he will be able to sustain his additional responsibilities going forward.  His Mom’s funeral expenses temporarily set him back, in addition to getting his younger siblings settled in to their new school.

Y’all, let’s jump in & help this brother in arms to stability, while he soldiers up to these new added responsibilities.

Eviction Mission

Meet 77 y/o Elenor Vesstea, from Florida.
Elenor served in the USCG for 8 years back during the later years of the Vietnam era.  She achieved rank of HM3, before receiving an honorable discharge, per Form DD 256CG.  That’s quite an accomplishment for a woman of that day.

Now Elenor faces eviction & potential homelessness in her senior years, as she’s caring for two disabled kids.

Let’s see if we can stand in this gap.

Access to mental health care at the VA is still a big problem: Reports show the agency had about 500 fewer psychologists and psychiatrists compared to the year before. Wait times have stretched out in some specialties. More care is shifting to large group sessions, and one-on-one time is getting harder to get.
The VA has been pressed for details on the shortages and wait times, citing investigations that show conditions getting worse.
Veterans deserve better than this.
