SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER THREAT for portions of Louisiana and Acadiana into Wednesday. Dynamic storm system is expected to develop for Acadiana into Wednesday morning, and especially the northern parishes of our area with a levels 3/4 out of 5 for the possibility of severe storms producing damaging wind "swaths" & isolated strong (EF2/111mph+) tornadoes, especially into the moderate risk zone from Evangeline/St Landry Parishes northeastward.

Latest HRRR Model supports the same, with the primary severe threat for our area during morning hours (right now centering around mid-morning for Lafayette (sooner to the northwest, later to the east)) and decreasing into the afternoon.

Away from the storms, intense southerly inflow into the potentially more widespread storms to our north could produce wind gusts in the 40-50mph range (as suggested by the HRRR Model), which could cause some localized tree/branch damage and perhaps isolated power outages...especially in more rural areas.

Rainfall shouldn't be a major issue in Acadiana, but flooding rains will be a distinct possibility from Central Louisiana on northward and into Mississippi where the storm dynamics will be most intense.

Definitely stay weather-aware through the next 24 hours. #LAwx
