Jews being brutally attacked on the streets of Amsterdam. Run down by terrorists in cars, lynched by mobs, stabbings. This kind of thing has not been seen on those streets since the 1930s.
Local heroic Jews coordinated by @Chabad are rescuing people from downtown and getting them to the airport or to safe places.
Yasser Arafat condemned Hamas.
His condemnation of Hamas is pretty much in line with my own.
He said: "It is against Palestinians, against the peace process, against Arabs, the whole region. And it is against God"
Can we all agree he was right?
As another example of Judge de Moraes’ illegal conduct, he issued the following order in January 2023 completely blocking all social media accounts of several prominent Brazilians, including:
- The podcaster Monark (known as the “Brazilian Joe Rogan”)
- Brazilian Senator Alan Rick
- Brazilian Congressman Nikolas Ferreira, who had received the most votes of any Congressman in history
The order is unconstitutional in five different ways:
(1) The order violates the constitutional right of freedom of speech, which is guaranteed by article 5°, IV, of the Brazilian Federal Constitution.
Importantly, Moraes disregarded earlier Supreme Court decisions that had already ruled that freedom of speech protects the right to share opinions and to access different perspectives and points of view.
(2) The order was issued in secret, which violates article 5, LX of the Brazilian Federal Constitution, which states that judicial decisions must be public, other than in exceptional cases when the public interest requires it. The order provides no reason to justify the secrecy and merely serves to avoid public scrutiny.
(3) The order contains no reasons, which violates article 5, LV, of the Brazilian Federal Constitution, which guarantees individuals due process of law and the right to appeal against court decisions. Without reasons, X does not know why the accounts are being censored and on what grounds to appeal.
(4) The order blocks the accounts of sitting federal legislators Alan Rick and Nikolas Ferreira. This violates Article 53 of the Federal Constitution, which explicitly states that legislators’ opinions, words, and votes are inviolable.
(5) The order violates the right to informational self-determination – the right of individuals to control and protect their own personal data – which is guaranteed by article 5, LXXIX, of the Brazilian Federal Constitution. By blocking individuals’ social media accounts, Judge Moraes deprived them of the right to control or even access their own personal data.
@shellenberger A cheesy frame, though.
X is banned, but not so much: you can use VPN
NOT to criticize me, the bald judge, though
After all, Brazilians can't complain. That's why they seem so happy!
@pr_tanner@cremieuxrecueil Disagree. If the variation is small but relevant, you are probably in need of truncation. A 1008hPa is a low, associated to rain, while a 1015hPa is a high, associated with sunny days.
To display that along the weekdays, you must truncate — even on Twitter.
@cremieuxrecueil Atmospheric Pressure on surface is a nice example. A hell of a low is around 950hPa, a hell of a high is around 1060hpa. Most weekly range lies between 1005hPa and 1020 hPa.
In order to be properly displayed, y axis must be truncated in this case.
Brazil has all the natural fundamentals to be a world power. Despite 200 years of high hopes, it still isn’t one.
Brazil is a case study in how dysfunctional political institutions squander great potential.

Pay attention to this kind of madness and raise your voice against it. Peaceful, prosperous societies can help individuals to achieve purpose, joy and happiness, but not under Iron Age rules.
Protect those who came here looking for modernity and individual freedoms.
This is in Germany, but this also happens in France, the UK, Sweden, Finland and Belgium too- Muslim men harass women, demanding they dress a certain way, acting like some European version of the Islamic morality police. Read Prey by @Ayaan
Brazil's affair seems to expose a rotten system in which some powerful individuals rule as barons under mutual agreement, and the populace under draconian laws.
Lula, the Brazilian government, and the ruling Workers Party believe they are above the law — even their own law that banned the use of X against a penalty of $8,900/day. All dictators create a set of rules for the people and another for themselves and their fellow criminals.
Hamas' strategy revolves around winning over public opinion in the West.
Knowing this, they still execute hostages, including an American, so they wouldn't be rescued.
They knew that the Western left is so deranged it would still support them.
Step 1: It's not really happening
Step 2: Yeah, it's happening, but it's not a big deal
Step 3: It's a good thing, actually
Step 4: People freaking out about it are the real problem
@Boogey_Brown@aziz0nomics Ideally, one day the boy will grow and become a man, then he will perceive Hamas as the ultimate cause of his personal tragedy.
But right now he's only in pain and desperation. We can't hope he looks at it all with analytical eyes.
@aziz0nomics Jews also have among them survivors of terrorism. The pre-modern vendetta cycle is not prone to develop peace and prosperity.
As you said, both sides must make efforts to let behind the pain and trauma.
Hamas doesn't want peace, it wants to annihilate Jews and spread Islam "by the sword". These goal are clearly stated in Hamas manifesto, why people don't believe it?
Hamas is evil and it will sacrifice Gaza's Palestinians ir order to try (and fail) to achieve evil goals.
Hamas wants peace but murdered 6 innocent hostages with a bullet to the head less than 48 hours ago.
Hamas wants peace but executed hostages during ceasefire negotiations.
Hamas wants peace but keeps murdering Israelis and Jews every chance they get.
BREAKING: The bodies of the six hostages found this week-end were discovered with gunshot wounds to the head and other parts of the body.
According to the initial autopsy findings, they were likely executed within the last 48 hours.
The examinations, which took place throughout the night, also revealed signs of systematic neglect. The bodies showed clear signs of deprivation of care, including a lack of showers for an extended period.
Additionally, there were indications of previous injuries sustained during the abduction.
