Dear Journalists,
Zimbabwe is burning!
@edmnangagwa has turned off the internet.
Citizens are being killed as you read this.
Stop the media blackout by covering Zim around the clock with the urgency it deserves.
Our hearts are with you fellow Zimbabweans.

Police in #Zimbabwe have fired live ammunition and teargas during running battles with groups of young people trying to enforce a nationwide shutdown to protest against the rising cost of living. https://t.co/PoxOIiYjpI #ZimbabweShutDown

I took this from a friends status who's currently in Zim. Please share this to our brothers and sisters so they can have access to their communication apps.

1. Reopen internet and social media
2. Respect human rights to information and expression
3. Respect rights to assembly, association, movement and to protest
4. Remove army from policing
5. Stop using shooting injuring and killing civilians
The military continues to beat & torture people in high density areas. Let’s spare a thought for them all. It’s a crime to struggle in Zimbabwe. Over & above being beaten by high taxes & a soaring cost of living, you get beaten & tortured for just being at home. #ZimbabweShutDown
Why would a so-called National Army beat a 7 year old to death? A trusted source called me now from Parirenyatwa hospital confirming that the numbers of the killed are much higher than the “official” figures being quoted! This is absolute nonsense #ZimbabweShutdown
Hearing reports that Nelson Chamisa, leader of the opposition MDC, has been abducted by 5 masked men and shoved into a white hilux. @UnitedNationsTZ PLEASE HELP ZIMBABWE!! @BBCBreaking
