Something big shifted in the Muslim community this past year because of Gaza. And it wasn't subtle.
I've been in Islamic finance for a decade. We used to have to convince people that where their money goes matters.
Now they're coming to us asking how Microsoft's data centres connect to military operations. They want to know if their pension is funding companies they'd never support directly.
What I think changed is that Gaza made the connection between money and morality visceral in a way that's unprecedented.
Before, the link between your investment portfolio and global events was abstract. Some spreadsheet somewhere holding shares in some company doing something questionable somewhere else. Pretty easy to ignore.
But when you see AI and drones and data centres playing a direct role in warfare - and then realise you own shares in the companies providing that infrastructure - suddenly it's not abstract anymore. People are putting two and two together for the first time.
The interesting bit is that it's not just the practising Muslims who pray five times a day. It's the guys who are heavily in the Palestine movement, who might not be that religious, suddenly thinking, "hang on, I need to look at Sharia-compliant funds." Or at least ethical ones.
The emotional connection changed everything. This isn't about following rules anymore. It's about not being complicit.
Even the Islamic fund managers are getting heat now. People are actually checking what's in those "Sharia-compliant" portfolios and asking uncomfortable questions about Big Tech holdings.
Ten years ago, we had to explain why Islamic finance and the ethical underpinning mattered. Now, people are coming to us already convinced. They just want to know how to move their money.
The cat's out of the bag on this one. Once you see the connection between your investments and real-world impact, you can't unsee it.
And that awakening is just the beginning of a better future, God willing.
Islam Makhachev speaks out against Israel bombing children in Gaza who were severely injured beneath the rubble of their home:
“Everyone involved in this may the almighty humiliate you and may you burn in hell forever.”

Even if you haven’t said ANYTHING for the past 18 months, I am begging you now- raise your voices.
We are witnessing Gaza’s final breath.
Israel is enacting the Palestinian Final Solution.
"There could be a solution to the Israel-Palestine question, but it's going to have to involve Israel taking their boot off of the Palestinians' neck."

A cellphone video has revealed that the IDF’s claim about ambulance lights being off was false after they shot and killed 15 Palestinian medics in Gaza.

“Ya Rab, forgive me… Mom, forgive me… I chose this path to save lives… they came for us—the Israeli army.”
🚨 A horrific war crime caught on camera: These were the final recorded words of Palestinian medic Raid, captured in a chilling video found on his phone after he and 15 of his colleagues were executed by Israeli forces in Tel Al-Sultan, Rafah southern Gaza.
Following prior coordination with the International Red Cross, Civil Defense and Red Crescent teams entered the area to assist the wounded. What awaited them was not a rescue mission—but a massacre.
All 16 paramedics were executed. Their bodies were later found buried near Israeli military barracks.
Every ambulance and firefighting vehicle was deliberately destroyed—clearly marked humanitarian equipment, reduced to ashes.
This was not a “tragic mistake.”
This was a calculated, cold-blooded war crime.
A direct attack on humanity, and a violation of every law that protects medics in war.
