To weigh in on this discussion: people have different pain tolerances, different anatomies, and different traumas that can make Pap smears incredibly uncomfortable and painful and make them absolutely dread getting them. But the pain lasts a few minutes, maybe a day at most-

If the pain lingers. Pretty sure I’d rather deal with that than potentially getting cervical cancer even if it’s rare (it’s not THAT rare though). I take Xanax before gyno appts and it helps. It still is excruciatingly painful and mentally/physically uncomfortable-

The Pitt really mangled the Dr. Langdon “addiction” arc. He isn’t even a drug addict. He injured his back and took legal and medically necessary pain meds. He developed a tolerance and became physically dependent on them
