#WATCH | Karnataka: An altercation occurred between a group of people and a shopkeeper last evening during 'Azaan' time when a shopkeeper played a song loudly near Siddanna Layout, in Bengaluru. A few Muslim youths questioned him, and an argument ensued, leading to them hitting the shopkeeper. Mobile shop owner Mukesh was attacked by 4-5 Islamists in Bengaluru because he was 'disturbing' their Azaan by playing bhajans in his shop after his evening puja. The Islamists brutally assaulted Mukesh, but he took them all on, trading blows and refusing to be cowed down. In the end, the thugs left, Mukesh walked back into his shop, took off his torn shirt.

As per a Kannada report by Asianet News, Mukesh and other shopkeepers in the area complained that these thugs had been trying to extort protection money for some time.

Police, not surprisingly, allegedly dragged its feet on lodging FIR over this assault, but succumbed when local Hindus gathered to protest.

Dear Hindus, be like Mukesh - lives will come and go, STSJ mobs can be assembled over rumors, but let's learn to live with self-respect in this one.
