@dr_owenanderson Thank you for saving the world with this sub stack post. Ever since my child went to university and was turned gay, they stopped wanting to talk to me just because I “abused them” by hitting them with my hands.
@dr_owenanderson@jpclemens You seem to believe this issue is persistent among all of academia, so can you provide me several different sources using this definition? Shouldn’t be too hard to find with how wide spread it is, as well as your experience and knowledge as a professor.
@dr_owenanderson This is how I would test my ideas if I were too scared to talk with my real actual colleagues and knew my arguments could only work on straw men.
@dr_owenanderson To answer, the class spoke on western, white rhetoric, and I think it’d be plenty reasonable to have discussions on, say, Middle Eastern, Arabic rhetoric and how it is used to maintain power structures in the Middle East.
@dr_owenanderson Interesting choice to say “if you ask them this, they’ll respond like this” instead of actually asking someone disagreeing with you. Can your arguments only hold up against straw men?
