I am struggling to soothe my wrathful and dark thoughts as of late.

I pray nightly, and daily, and find myself in tears full of rage and anger clutching my pillow, sometimes gritting my teeth.

I'm going to come out and say it plainly. A lot of VRChat players are very performative, especially streamers/content creators. There's a lot of fake people in the VRC ecosystem and a lot of it stems from ego or the drive to be popular in the VRC space.

People think they're going to be the next Totless or Zentreya, so they put on a performance in order to garner favor from others in the hopes of using their platform as a stepping stone in order to get to the "big stage" of content creation. It's why drama happens, people who were friends for years suddenly splitting up because they want to become content creators.

Gonna be real here, we're a dime a dozen and not everyone has the talent to be a creator. Some people get lucky, others get a tailwind from larger streamers. But it boils down to "you" as a person. If you can't hold an audience with your content it doesn't matter how many viewers you have. It's why everyone feels so fake.

It's also very easy to spot clout chasers in VRC, insanely easy. They only show up when you have popularity or are streaming VRC. They don't want to hang out when you turn off stream. They try to spotlight your stream, making it all about themselves. They will orbit popular streamers and try to gain their attention for a collaboration. They will try to self-promote in as many communities as possible in order to gain a bigger reach or leech off someone else's following/community.

It's all performative. Once you see the signs, it's easy to avoid people who act this way, which is why so many people are stranger hostile in the VRC space. If you try to climb out of the bucket, a crab will take your leg and deny you freedom.
