Liz is 16 and lives to take photographs. She has a rare and aggressive cancer which doctors have told her means she has between 6 months and 3 years to live. We hope every day for a lifetime for her but if we can’t achieve that we hope to create her a lifetime of memories. If we can make even one of her photography bucket list happen for her she will be beyond delighted.

📽 As the year draws to a close, we wanted to share a video of an impressive feat performed by the team at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, 🇬🇧.

To address the long waiting lists for cardiovascular procedures in the country, the team successfully performed ten transcatheter aortic valve implantations (TAVI) in one day with the vast majority of those patients going back home on the same day.

TAVI is a minimally invasive procedure allowing the replacement of a damaged heart valve by an artificial bioprosthethis. It does not require opening the chest and stopping the heart.

The team from Middlesbrough runs the Edwards Benchmark program which aims to improve the efficiency and safety of TAVI procedures while reducing hospitalisation time for patients.
