"Anyone who is still active on that site needs to ask themselves what in the name of God they think they’re doing." Quite so. Get off here & come join us on the other place. https://t.co/Tx3hiZxu9r
Your occasional reminder that if you are pining for my content, then (1) ...what? are you ok?; and (2) I am now over at The Other Place, it's good now, you should join us.
Not to be too old man about it but we could really do with the Emerge electronic music festival winding up for the night, it's keeping my kids awake and they're back to school in a couple of days. #doofdoofdoofdoof
My wife Karen has invented this genius device for removing bumble bees from the house. It’s basically a long stick with a bit of cloth on the end which she soaks in sugar water as needed. The bee will inevitably clamber on and is thus rescued/ejected into the garden.
Strongly agree. Plus "the other place" (blue) has suddenly come to life recently. This website now mostly serves up conflict, drama and trolling. If that's what you want from social media, there's nowhere else like it, but you do have to ask yourself the question.
@mgtruth Aside, Ruth, any interest at all in migrating over to, for the sake of the censors let's call it BalooSky? It's livelier nowadays and increasingly feeling like home over there.
If I believed my employer to be on the cusp of winning a world-changing race to develop general artificial intelligence, I probably wouldn't be seeking new opportunities elsewhere.
OpenAI is forever saying it is weeks or months away from developing super-intelligent systems to upend humanity as we know it, and yet its senior people keep wandering off to start new chapters of their careers. Bit of a tension there. https://t.co/0ZXpWQdfRP
@strobist I have a very nice high-end CD deck and tell myself that the Chromecast doesn't sound as good but I'm really not sure that I could pick one from the other blind.
@strobist I have a 90s NAD amplifier, a large pair of modern passive speakers (the current Monitor Audio Silver 500), and a little Chromecast Audio puck. Sounds absolutely superb.
@mgtruth First I heard about it was browsing the news on the Torygraph (which I read to keep an eye on what they're up to, not as a source of information). You can imagine the sensitivity and nuance with which it was reported there.
