Home from RQ Singapore after 33 Hours of Travel

Wanted to take a moment to reflect on the weekend.

It had been 6 months since my last show (RQ Las Vegas). I was never kept in the dark about why it was so long, but as someone who has dedicated so much of my life to casting it was hard to sit back and watch wanting so badly to be a part of each show.

When Riftbound was released I had a goal. I wanted to become a voice of the game, a historian of the competitive circuit by being a primary source for each event happening. Being able to say 'I was there' as each moment was written into history, and sometimes even be the pen who writes it.

Each of my efforts within Riftbound have been working towards this goal but somewhere along the way with so much going on and so much time between shows I started to become unsure about the direction I wanted to go with content, with casting, with competing.

Getting back on the mic solidified my original goal. Reminded me why I love what I do, and renewed my hunger to be even better.

I hope you enjoyed the cast, and I hope to come back as frequently as possible. The privilege of sharing these stories with you all is what I feel I was put here to do.

Thanks to @RiftboundRamble for bringing me across the globe for this one, @LHP64D and @CasterCarix for being a fantastic duo opposite me and Courtney and accepting me as an honorary Australian for the weekend, and the crew for making everything so easy all event.

And a special shoutout to @ADCourtneyy , casting is not easy as much as people like to pretend it is. Courtney came into her first event with a ton of respect for the craft and an attitude to learn. She put an insane amount of work to prepare herself and even when she stumbled she took feedback in stride and together we'd work the problem. Taking the leap from pre-recorded to live content is different and scary but Courtney was able to let her personality shine through and she did a great job. I have no doubts with her work ethic, humor, and love of the game that she could become an incredible caster if she so desires!

So much more to write about since I love Singapore and all the people and players that I meet and how @GoricaLoL is so cool and his story is one of the best I've ever heard in any competition ever but I'm already rambling. So ggs, much love, cya in LA.

Until the next tournament, I'll be taking a short break and come back with more content and try to work towards a talent again! I've got a better sights and more confidence in diving into Riftbound casting, and I hope I'll be the voice behind RQs in the coming future.

I wish there were more opportunities provided to local talents, as there is ZERO South East Asian rep in the RQ SG talent lineup, which happens to be the only RQ event in the region.

SEA region faced unique disadvantages from the start. We only received the official launch of the game in mid-May (a week after Unleashed), experienced severe supply shortages till end of July, and did not receive regional protection mechanisms like TW/HK/MO did.

While I truly appreciate and love the invited international talent lineup, it is disheartening to see highly experienced, world-class local talents such as @QuahSong @heyabstract @hiroshishou_ @excelsorph denied the opportunity to perform on home ground.

Despite getting a late start, these are the exact individuals who regularly host grassroots events, run learn-to-play sessions, and produce content purely out of their passion and dedication to Riftbound. It would mean a lot if Riftbound showed that same support back to the community leaders who built local scene from the ground up.
