Intents have been the talk of the town at lately.

Here’s an ELI5 for you:

Imagine you have two toy boxes in different rooms.

🟥🔵 One box has red blocks, and the other has blue blocks. You want to trade some red blocks for blue blocks, but you can't move the boxes.

Intents are like writing a note saying, "I want to trade 3 red blocks for 3 blue blocks."

✏️🗒️ You put this note on a special board that both rooms can see.

Now, someone who takes care of both toy boxes (let's call them the helper) reads your note. They go to the red block box, take out 3 red blocks, then go to the blue block box and put in those red blocks. Then they take out 3 blue blocks and put them in the red block box.

In the world of blockchain, different chains are like different toy boxes. Intents are the notes that say what you want to do across these chains.

📜 Special programs (like our helper) read these intents and make the trades happen, even though the chains can’t directly talk to each other.

Suppose you want to trade 1 ETH on Ethereum for BNB on Binance Smart Chain (BSC). You create an intent specifying your desire to swap 1 ETH for BNB and submit it to a cross-chain protocol. 🪙🔄 The protocol's smart contracts read this intent and execute the swap by converting your ETH to a stablecoin, locking it in a bridge, and then minting the equivalent BNB on BSC.

This way, you can do things with your "toys" (or in real life, your digital assets) across different blockchains without having to worry about how it actually happens behind the scenes. ✨
