Four fundamental ways to boost engagement at work. With the rise of hybrid/remote work, there’s a real risk that, unless we're far more deliberate about creating a culture of belonging, the people we lead may come to feel like “just another face on the Teams screen.” People need to feel:
1) Seen: that they make a unique contribution and that their absence would be noticed.
2) Heard: that their ideas and suggestions matter.
3) Valued: that their contributions are appreciated, especially when they make a significant effort. Research shows leaders systematically overestimate how much appreciation they’re conveying to their teams.
4) Encouraged: in the form of aiding and guiding each person's career.

@HoytMandy Interesting to me is how often these three aren’t aligned -like performative vs real deal behaviour. A recent experience reinforced for me the need for self-awareness & dare I say “character-based leadership” - like humility.

@Joutram@JFClaudeMSM Yes please!! I’m getting constantly turned down for projects because I’m bilingual in Punjabi & English vs FR & EN! This tech would help workplaces be more inclusive & perhaps even have all folks feel belonging.

We do our best work when we feel we're able to work with high levels of autonomy; to make decisions & experiment for improvement. That will only happen if our systems are designed for autonomy. Bureaucracy is not inevitable. We can, and should, design it out: https://t.co/5L0JNOWBRO By @PaulIanTaylor
