PhilHealth on Sunday said it is looking into a viral social media complaint alleging that a deceased member was denied benefits after being hospitalized for less than 24 hours.

The state insurer said it has reached out to the family involved and is coordinating with the hospitals concerned to understand the circumstances surrounding the case and determine possible forms of assistance.

The statement came after a viral social media post claimed that a longtime PhilHealth contributor who died from a brain hematoma was deemed ineligible for benefits because he had been confined for less than 24 hours. PhilHealth said it has reached out to the family and is exploring possible forms of assistance while reviewing the case.
