@TechPlayCollab A4: Lastly, the pandemic has shown us that how much time kids spend on media is less important than what they are doing on media. Kids were on screens more, but they spent that time learning, connecting with friends, and finding joy during a scary time. #TechPlayChat
@TechPlayCollab A4: Nothing will ever replace face-to-face learning, but I think remote learning has helped us realized the benefits of edtech for motivating kids to learn, allowing them to learn from anywhere, and connecting them to other learners and friends. #TechPlayChat
@TechPlayCollab@shimirawms Agency is SO important, and it's a delicate balance between giving children enough agency when playing but also make sure the way they drive the experience is appropriate for their age and ability. #TechPlayChat
@TechPlayCollab Exactly! And the ease at which they can do certain interactions shifts in different contexts. That's why it's so important to consistently test how children interact with media #TechPlayChat
@TechPlayCollab A3: While you’re playing apps and game with your kids, do a little user research of your own! Find out what they like and don’t like and what they enjoy learning about. Then you can find more educational apps and games that your child is motivated to learn from. #TechPlayChat
@TechPlayCollab A3: The best way you can support a child’s use of edtech is play with them! Playing with your kids can help them figure out how to use the app or play the game quicker, and research also shows that it helps with their engagement and learning. #TechPlayChat
@TechPlayCollab@AgeofLearning Yes! Doing research virtually opens up the experience to so many more kids across the country (and world!). Families can sign up to participate in our research at https://t.co/gHCBivfZ2h
@TechPlayCollab A1: To make educational media, adults have to understand the hearts and minds of the kids they are designing for. Adults don’t think like kids, behave like kids, or even like the same things as kids! In user research, we let kids be the experts that we learn from. #TechPlayChat
