I work at a food bank, and I spend a lot of time at food pantries and food distributions. I get asked all the time, "do you think people LIE and come to get food if they don't really NEED it?" 👀
My short answer is: no.

The church is wounding people and the sad reality is that most ministry leaders do not understand the psychological and physiological implications of that.
If I could request pastors to do one thing, it would be to become trauma informed.
It’s a high calling to be a wife and mother. But don’t fall for the myth that these are the highest calling. Single, married, kids or no kids, your highest calling is to be a woman who fears the Lord. #MothersDay
Please think about single people when you are planning every aspect of a service.
“If I was single, how would this song hit?”
“If I was single, where does this sermon illustration land?”
“How is our greeting time experienced as a single?
we love talking about our callings. what would you say to the migrant in detention saying they’re following the Lord’s calling on their life? don’t you dare let yourself be okay with Sunday school answers, what’s your response?
these are our brothers and sisters leaving everything, standing on the Lord’s promises. Man, I pray this comes to mind the next time a conversation about immigration happens in your circle.
