Anti-spoiler hype is a marketing psyop that perpetuates the gamification of movies! There’s more to good art than the thrill of surprise! Free your minds!
Idk if this is uniquely American, but it’s a huge problem. Decentering plot opens you up to much richer experiences with film. (and any kind of narrative art really)
In film studies, our prof once went on a rant abt how we have to "de-americanize" our view of art.
iirc "Americans are obsessed with plot. Form, function, feeling, they ignore it all to ask if the plot is believable or logical. All they care about is outsmarting the artist."
Your definition of Zionism does not matter. Nor does mine. Zionism is defined by its material manifestations. The purpose of a system is what it does. And the Zionist system does racism and genocide. Simple. Please spare me the arrogant insufferable graaating Oxbridge debates. Your opinions are irrelevant. People are dying.
I have a lot of respect for politics writers, but I find talking to them about cinema to be exhausting and unpleasant.
they approach new films like new nonfiction books, based on the assumption that they are direct responses to ongoing discourse. I don’t agree.
@doubtpointv2 There’s dozens of images from TP that are burned into my brain, but the first one with Leland staring in the mirror and Bob staring back is like top 5.
@EatFries34@mungoes@vengoechea98@HitFactoryPod Maybe the real job those investors get will have profit sharing, would be nice for them.
My point is the “risk” the investor takes is the risk of becoming a laborer again, which is the position that the people actually making the movie are already in.
