Congrats to our National History Day winners!! Ms. Holden & Ms. Horne are so proud. Now, it's onto County competition. @hholden22@Junkifer@SanJacintoUSD
Relationship building is the most important thing you will do all year. Once you have those relationships, you can do and try anything in the classroom and the kids will happily ride along with you and will forgive, even if you are not perfect.
This weekend I’m stepping back to really look at my gradebook. Is it really a measure of proficiency or a measure of a student’s ability to do work? Shouldn’t a gradebook measure proficiency instead of the ability to do work?
@pedro_caro2 Some kids are already used to being called by the Americanized name by middle school and have given up on being called by their actual name. As educators, we should INSIST on saying their name correctly, even if it takes a few corrections.

Man, it was so hot in San Jacinto, CA today (118 degrees) that when I left my McDonald’s sweet tea in the car I knew the ice would melt. Dude, after my 3 hour speech the whole cup was empty! The whole thing evaporated! Insanity!
@teacher2teacher It is normal to have first- day jitters and not sleep well the night before. Focus on why you are there and build those relationships and class culture. Have fun but be as prepared as possible. This is an amazing career!!
@tmaclfo@alicekeeler@tmaclfo I love this! The format is so student friendly too and a change from the typical boring mess that a syllabus normally is. Can I use it as inspiration as I redo mine?
@teacher2teacher This is how I'll be setting up for #observeme this year. I have a feedback for staff and one for students. It will put me in a vulnerable spot, but I'm excited to learn and grow w/input from my incredible colleagues @SanJacintoUSD https://t.co/Q6AoqE3j79
