When a student struggles in class from ADHD, don’t take away recess as a consequence for disruptive behavior. This is counterintuitive and only punishes the teacher in the end. If anything, the most squirmy #kids need extra recess.

Recess and play are SEL. They help decrease aggressive and off task behavior as well as decease anxiety and depression . They increase self regulation of emotions and improve academic performance! Let them play!

The phrase “behavior problem” drives me crazy. There is no such thing as a behavior problem child in school. Behaviors are not the problem they are always solutions kids pick to their problems. Focus on the underlying cause for real results. #thatonekid
