@AmazingPopPod Snobby to Jay mohr when she hosted SNL in 1994 and found out he was only a featured player not cast member and then dropped out of the skit he’d written for her. Otherwise by all accounts a nice person
@gregmottola @nytimes I love the movie, but it’s refreshing that you rebutted 2 venerated Times critics who were so complacent about violence. There were a few top critics that notably hated it (David Denby for one) but obviously the Times has quintuple the circulation . FWIW It’s very well written!
@gregmottola huge fan of “the daytrippers” here! I just read your @nytimes editorial on “true Romance” from way back in the day and am curious what you think of that film/tarantino now: https://t.co/YtCQ0h6VBE
Honored to be cited by @dwhtwit@Criterion for my interview with Paul Morrissey for Hidden Films
(Reprinted by @blfj). Thanks also to @THR and @etanvlessing for the mention!
@MidCenturyCinem@KinoLorber@Karaszewski@tnyfrontrow@Abbey_Bender Thank you for the shoutout and please let
Me know if you do a podcast on this one as it’s very special to me. Not only a masterpiece but it’s the first film i covered for this blog back when rare video stores existed and studios were blocking even DVDs of their films from NFlix
@Luke_Wanderer Hey sorry I know I don’t know you but i also got “doubtful laughter” on Saturdays letterboxed and then saw it was flatbread dough and have no idea why they’re not both right…can you explain? I found you when I googled about this
@ddavidson329 Super super rare; impressed you got it—I saw a viewing-only vhs of it way back in the day and loved it, then interviewed the (recently deceased) director. He had some great stories about it including his butting heads with Michael Parks: https://t.co/M0GE0bnwLM
@lurie_john I love ur work in “stranger than paradise” and “vortex” so this made me sad. Please also hate beheadings and rape and terrorism. It is possible to hate two sides that are killing innocent people. single minded hatred of Israel and glossing over of Hamas’ actions =heart breaking
Oh god oh man indeed! RIP #ryanoneal and thanks for making my life so happy with “tough guys don’t dance” and “fever pitch.” Don’t know about the rest of you but I’m gonna be watching the 5 hour loop of this on YouTube all day to pay proper respects! https://t.co/SbK1e0AnaR
@jfkenney late reply I know, just learned of Shebib’s death. I interviewed him in 2013, he spoke frankly about his bad tensions with Kidder. I saw it on VHS (sadly often the only way to see rare films), its a nice sweet little film. In case anyone’s interested: https://t.co/KZtrmhVVON
I’m late but RIP #DonaldShebib.
one of the most brutally honest directors I’ve ever interviewed. He was gracious to several cinephiles i introduced him to. last time we spoke he was planning to send me his rarest: film “change of heart.” Still searching. https://t.co/0AoPLFvStC
@lizslayed@dinosaurjr Yeah I was as disappointed as you! I also found out that it’s “wait on the sons of no one” in the replacements’ “bastards of young,” not “WE ARE the sons of no one.” The latter has so much more power!
@RobSchneider Great, take the hard line; democrat making bad mistake/ only paying a small fine=all dems behave this way and all republicans=upstanding citizens. And trump has never acted like a “spoiled brat” when censured. You used to say both libs AND reps can be mocked, now it’s just Libs?
Old computer tech aside, “last seduction” Amazingly hasn’t aged in 25 years and no mainstream noir film would be this ruthless today. Love the work by @Bill_Pullman_ and @pb44 and of course Fiorentino. And these reviews by @agmacor and @JanetMaslin . A must see!
