Tracing the root causes would require examining Partition, the language dispute, Punjab’s trifurcation, the Anandpur Sahib Resolution, the SYL canal row, Congress-Akali rivalries, the Gandhis’ alleged backing of Bhindranwale, Pakistan’s Project K2, 1984, mass migration, and the drug crisis.

The film’s unofficial ban only boosted its publicity, but we still await content that honestly confronts the full, researched truth of Punjab’s tragedy.
