The reality of being an algo trader.
Last night I was behind my laptop until 1:00 AM. This morning I was back at it by 7:30.
Not because I had to, but because I couldn’t stop.
When you’re building a new trading system, you end up running hundreds of backtests, tweaking parameters, testing different combinations, and searching for that extra edge.
That’s what real passion looks like.
The moment you watch a strategy you’ve spent countless hours refining finally come together… it’s one of the most rewarding feelings there is.
Learning how price moves and where opportunities lie is one thing.
Training your mind to stay calm and execute fearlessly in every situation is another entirely.
You need both skills to make it in this business.
If you want to be a successful trader
The guy making $10,000s each month trading
There’s one super important thing you need to do:
DETACH FROM THE RESULTS
Stop looking at the $ figure on each trade, stop chasing money
The ONLY thing you should be focused on is following your system and executing trades that align with your plan, nothing else
Do this and the money will follow anyway
Whenever I take a new trade...
I don't actually watch the chart anymore
I set:
-alerts
-stops
-targets
& let the trade work
It either works and I can trim and trail
OR
it fails and stops me out
Leave your emotions out the door.
Every profitable trader I know trades their own strategy
They take concepts from different people, then make it their own
Not sure why - but I’ve never seen a profitable trader who copied someone else’s exact strategy
Make of it as you will
I don’t like prop firms
But I have a student in my community who is a beast on props
He’s trading 1:1RR with prop firms because of the drawdown but wanted to start building a personal account too
He trades pretty much the same setups on his personal account but instead of taking profits at 1:1RR he lets it run and uses a trailing stop
He’s caught some 5-8R bangers doing this and is scaling his personal account pretty fast
This is the method
Low RR for prop firms
High RR for personal accounts
Beginners will say trading should be easy.
Pro traders will say trading should be simple.
But knowing what to “simplify” is a very long and painful process.

Best way to trade futures is 1:1 RR
Even negative RR with wide stops.
It’s the absolute method. The way I trade futures and the way I trade CFD’s totally different.
Don’t sleep on 1:1 RR wide stops and greater risk. Extremely powerful.
Remember what protects trading psychology having a statistically higher winrate.
A system you can adhere to that rewards you more often. Is far superior than a system that rewards you less frequently with larger take profit targets.
You may have the same equity curve over time based on statistics and data.
But your psychological equity curve is going to look vastly different even leading you to make poor decisions when losing so frequently thus deviating you from your trading model.
Low RR - high win-rate on futures is key 🔑
