Rigorous, relevant, and engaged lesson design along with simple, effective classroom management can greatly increase student learning experiences. It takes intentional planning, patience, and positive relationships with students. #Edchat#Leadered#myohioclassroom#BeGREAT
Teachers make mistakes; they get sick; they get sad; they get nervous; they get frustrated. As it turns out... teachers are human. And this is ok. There can be value in showing some vulnerability in the classroom. It makes teachers “real.” And authenticity is always compelling.
I think great administrators try to view things through the eyes of teachers… and I think great teachers, try to view things through the eyes of students. #Empathy
Some kids have taller mountains to climb than others. We can’t climb the mountains for them, but an awareness of the mountains… reminds us of the importance of our patience and support. Some kids need us to be their cheerleader more than they need us to be their instructor.
Our students notice our mood, notice our attitude, and notice our reactions to adversity. Educators are allowed to be human... but it’s important to be mindful of the example we set for all the eyes that are watching.
Our youth need role models.
So desperately... they need role models.
If we do anything this school year, let it be that we treat others with respect, we don't belittle people for our amusement, and we celebrate our students'/colleagues' differences rather than diminish.
