On Monday, 12 people were arrested over a right wing terrorism threat to a Suffolk Islamic festival.

This was BBC News' top story and led to multiple follow-up articles.

All 12 have now been released with no terrorism charges.

This news doesn't make the top 4 on BBC Suffolk.

While the world watches the war, the Islamic Republic of Iran hanged a 19-year-old boy today.

His name is Erfan Esfandiari and he was his parents' only child.

He did not kill anyone. He did not carry a weapon. His crime, according to the Islamic Republic, was opening a door. Sheltering protesters who were running from security forces. That was enough to send him to the gallows.

Erfan was one of 12 young men in the Alikhani Square case in Isfahan, arrested during the January 2026 uprising. Yesterday, all 12 were moved to quarantine. Today, the Islamic Republic hanged him.

This is a government that is so terrified of a generation that refuses to be silent, that it executes teenagers for the act of compassion.

Say his name. Because the regime is already trying to erase him. Because his mother and father are left with nothing, not even the right to grieve loudly.

We are now in a national emergency.
The threat to families is at the utmost highest than it has ever been.
My interpretation; what is ‘normal’ or tolerated in many migrant’s own country is not normal or tolerated in the United Kingdom🇬🇧 and the Rep of Ireland ☘️, that includes abnormally normalised violence; worse the taking of life, homicide, sexual assault.
Our country and its loving families find themselves in a crisis not of their own making but the making of flawed Immigration policy, national and european.

Whilst I don’t think I’ll be constructive in pointing blame. What I will say to be constructive for our country is that the first priority of the incoming PM is our economic policy which is ruinous for our own businesses and second our Immigration policy.
Personally I think we should go our own way with immigration laws and on a personal note whilst we may cheese off our European partners, below the surface they feel the same and will align with us.
We should shut our borders.

The United Kingdom is and has been one of the most tolerant nations in the world with values that people like me align to , contribute to and wish to uphold. A minor but important personal example for me was my proudest moment when my children Grace & James represented their country 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 at hockey and county of Essex at cricket. My Irish wife☘️ found herself being their biggest supporter and so proud to represent their country 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Just a personal example to share with you of my most joyous moments before I lost my daughter Grace.

Andy Burnham will be judged by me on these two main policies in my eyes as they are critical for our country.

Nobody has been charged related to the "far-right terror attack" on the Islamic Ijtima event in Suffolk.

But Shabana Mahmood told us the arrests "undoubtedly saved lives".

What's the story here? Was it a "far-right terror attack" or was it a few guys flying a drone to see what was going on?

And how innocuous is this "Islamic event"? The Suffolk Ijtima was linked to Tablighi Jamaat, a movement prohibited as extremist in Saudi Arabia, several Asian countries and Russia. Saudi authorities have described it as "a danger to society" and a "gateway to terrorism".

Maybe it would be a good idea for the authorities to have a look at what's going on instead of arresting people who do?
