@ceilidh_o liiiiiike there is a big jump from point A to point B there why are we treating everyday citizens making random little videos like they are in charge of curating The Culture
okay, i promise this will be my last thought of the day, but: it’s interesting to me that small internet moments that start out as jokes end up becoming metabolized as “cultural moments” when, again, this literally started as a tongue-in-cheek little jokey joke!!!!!
i guess i can’t say for sure until i watch it, but oppenheimer might suffer from the TLD effect wherein people make whatever assumptions they want about the movie’s material without watching and base their opinions & analyses solely on that
i went to the grocery store for some quick “essentials” and only walked out with 3 different kinds of beverages and a loaf of speciality bread. what is wrong with me lol
@caraxfilms i did immediately slap some butter on the bread and drink the lemonade as soon as i got home while standing near my counter. this is so real
my coworkers having fun with the barbenheimer bit but the discourse has already managed to ruin my enthusiasm for what was meant to be a fun little summer moment… this is what being chronically online does to a person
@thelivingblues it’s always so obvious what kind of response they want too, and people inevitably play into it and make things bigger than they need to be! just the worst
i’m just gonna start blocking all these engagement bait “pop culture news” accounts which tweet inflammatory, out of context shit all the time lol they are no fun
that’s crazy cause there are like 1028373011 barbie movies and i don’t think she’s a mom in any of them. at most i think she’s a big sister??? correct me if i’m wrong
Truly cannot emphasize enough that my Barbies fucked like bunny rabbits and not once did they ever get pregnant or even worry they were pregnant. Because they got to have a better reality than this one.
@adamthecute that’s probably it, it’s just so wild to me when this is such a normal (albeit often on the fringes) part of fandom — but i guess it should be chalked up to them being young & newer to to it all?
