Quite a list to appear in! This is the 100 Year Review of the Sir Halley Stewart Trust who funded @higherpowerproj. Nice to be there with @CMO_England & Marjory Allen who invented the children’s playground. Ever gr8ful to the Trust for their belief in my research & in #recovery.
I've spoken at a few Addiction Recovery Conferences in my time, but I've never been invited to perform my poetry at them!
Creativity is integral to #recovery.
Recovery in Practice Conference, @DerbyUni, Oct 14th 2024. Please come!

Love that the government’s official Recovery Champion and one of the UK’s very best #recovery researchers chooses to spend time at a grassroots activist event like the #ukrecoverywalk. Dr Ed Day, everybody. @EdDay71
We are so grateful our fabulous trustee Wendy, representing Fallen Angels at UKRW today.. bravo 🤩 💜💫.. were you there? Please do let us know your experience of #Samadhi ??
What an incredible privilege to speak about the newest @FallenAngelsDT production #Samadhi to thousands of people celebrating recovery, from the stage on which Bob Marley & the Wailers played their largest uk gig. 🤯
I was introduced by the brilliant @liamwithnail. 💜 @FAVORUK
Check out the amazing things our friends at Fallen Angels Dance Theatre @FallenAngelsDT, collaborating with the wonderful recovery orchestra @newnoteorc, are up to in London next week! 👏
In London next week?
You could catch Fallen Angels Dance Theatre, New Note Orchestra and the Royal Ballet doing incredibly creative things in partnership at the Royal Opera House. June 21st, 1pm. 💜
Wish I could be there!
The participants who generously shared their thoughts & experiences in relation to spirituality & higher power with the Higher Power Project research team have made a significant contribution to a wider appreciation of this often misunderstood element of addiction recovery.
Humbled to learn that I'll receive the Recovery Researcher Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming DBRecovery/UKESAD conference. I always hope my work busts myths & makes recovery pathways more accessible. Lovely to receive an award acknowledging that it does this. @uochester
Gratitude, as always, to the 107 participants in the Higher Power Project who shared their experiences with and/or thoughts about the HP element of the 12-Step program. Here @WEDossett talks about the significance of the conceptual/experiential diversity shown in their accounts.
The 12-step programs talking about a “higher power” are more flexible than you might think.
A Tyee Q&A with @WEDossett, whose research probes how people can conceive of their addiction recovery.

UK Recovery Walk! ⬇️This year in #London! Come and celebrate - whether you're in recovery, recovered, recovery-curious, an ally or a professional. Together we can dismantle the stigma that prevents help-seeking. #visiblerecovery
The next annual @FAVORUK UK Recovery Walk is at Crystal Palace in London 14 Sept 2024! The Walk is a celebration. It shows we're here & we're valuable.💜 Recovery should be normal, visible & accessible to all. #addictionrecovery#visiblerecovery#hope https://t.co/o6PSxZE2cI
On Friday (7pm BST) I'm joining colleagues from the US, UK & Canada, to tell the story of @uochester’s journey towards becoming one of the UK’s first #Recovery-Friendly Universities & explore how all Unis can stand against stigma. All welcome. Please share! Zoom ID on poster.
At their peak there were around 3000 sure start centres - a one stop shop for under 5s and parents - more than a thousand were closed in post 2020 austerity - others folded into other services. Now we have long term @TheIFS research that they paid for themselves
It's been a long time coming, but today I finally submitted my PhD! Huge thanks to @DrGordonHay@LPorcellato and everyone who helped me limp across the finish line. Also apt that today is #NoSmokingDay2024
An honour to be one of two keynote speakers today at The Royal College of Psychiatrists @rcpsych Spirituality Group conference. (The other was Prof Kenneth Pargament!) Good to bring the voices of the Higher Power Project to a professional audience.
