version of their past, reaching for an idealized bloodline made up of cultural archetypes they've put on a pedestal, while rejecting the parts that don't fulfill their desired narrative.
The one-drop rule has shaped ancestral discourse in the US to be black and white, literally, leading to a distortion of how many Americans think of their lineages and a tendency to be selective about how one defines their ancestry depending on culture and context. For some,
it's because they were historically forced into a category by law, shaping the cultural context of how they were brought up to see themselves, like when Angela Davis learned that she had ancestors who owned slaves. Or, in this case, because they want to create a fantastical
Definitionally, it's true that there is a distinction between an immigrant and a frontiersman/colonist, and while @Anc_Aesthetics could be of very rare lineage made up of only the latter, the fact is that the vast majority (~90%) of white Americans have some immigrant ancestry.
I really hate this “nation of immigrants” talking point. My ancestors were not immigrants. They were frontiersmen, explorers, and colonists. They were builders who tamed a wild continent and built the greatest nation in the history of the world. This is not at all the same as moving to an already prosperous nation and benefiting from the blood and sweat of the former.
Terrifying sequence of articles.
"There are over 45 cases of people in the United States getting the virus in 2024.
The U.S. is addicted to gambling with #H5N1. But if you gamble long enough, the virus may hit a jackpot.
A jackpot for the virus would fuel a global pandemic."
Eggland’s best eggs were yanked off the shelves a few months ago. I only knew about it because I was told by someone who works at a grocery store. When I looked it up there wasn’t a single article on it. They’ll report on salmonella outbreaks or marketing suits but not on #H5N1
Because I have been engaging with non-environmentally aware people, for over 50 years, I have fully realized just how little environmental awareness, penetrates the mainstream.
I've generally avoided environmentalists, because of this.

"UFOs are real and Americans deserve to know the truth, former government and military officials told a congressional panel Wednesday. “We should not turn a blind eye, but boldly face this new reality and learn from it.” The Pentagon didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Everytime I mention the IDF, I'm gonna try to remember to call them the US-Backed IDF, like they do when they call every resistance group, Iran-Backed.
We already tried "leftist" Joe Rogan. It was called Chapo Tree House & it ended up being queerphobic, sexist, racist, ableist as well as enabling numerous sexual assaults whilst also being only vaguely left wing in its analysis & general vibe
Can people who believe climate change is a hoax share how they came to this conclusion and/or point me to articles, books, sources they trust on the subject? This is coming from sb who doesn't think it's a hoax, but is genuinely curious about other perspectives. #tuesdayvibe
I don't feel good about participating in a pile on. These experiences prob push people to double down and insulate themselves even further. I think these conversations are important, but it's easy to forget that behind thousands of reposts there is a real and overwhelmed person.
The “unpopular opinion” take is emblematic of trend culture that’s about applying the latest identity framework to everything. Every few years there is a need to “disrupt” the old framework so you can’t form long term movements bc everything has to be constantly purged.
This Department of Education video is not a new announcement. It's one of the many Agenda 47 videos that were posted on his campaign website in May. You can still find the live link to watch all of them in my original tweet.
Trump has his own short-form video version of Project 2025 called Agenda 47. Some of the videos have been shared as "new announcements," but they've been on his campaign website since May. They're not on the main menu anymore, but the link is still live: https://t.co/ii728Yv5Wj
