Year 4 have been creating a range of Viking longships whilst using recyclable materials. Longships were very effective when raiding towns and villages via narrow rivers.

This week in Reception the children have been learning about the topic of Pirates. Penguins have been busy building pirate ships, making flags and pretending to be a pirate, as well as making lists to take on our pirate adventure.

Millers Ark have been visiting our younger children today. We loved meeting Moon - the donkey who was stolen from and thankfully returned to Miller's Ark last year. Our children learnt about the different animals and had a chance to stroke the goats, pigs and donkeys.

Our school representatives joined the mayor for the schools D-Day celebrations in Farnham Town last week for the 80th anniversary of D-Day landings.

Year 1 have been learning how to make whole, half, three-quarter and quarter turns. The children worked in groups and were directing their peers on how to make the turns. They would then work as a team to make sure everyone understood the different turns.

4M have benefited from the expertise of three swimming instructors every Thursday afternoon. They have been developing their swimming technique through weekly lessons at Farnham Leisure Centre.

Year 3 have been working hard trying to find equivalent fractions, using fractions walls to help them.

1S have been saying hello to Highfield's special guests this week.

5O recently performed their class assembly all about rivers, volcanoes and endangered species. The children were proud of their posters, bringing attention to some amazing endangered animals. We could not be prouder of the children for their performance.

Year 3 have been creating 3D shapes! Some of the children have been creative and made new class pets out of 3D shapes.

It’s been another very busy week in Reception. The children have learnt about different lifecycles, starting with the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. They looked at each stage of the lifecycle of a butterfly, and applied our learning to our writing.

What an amazing visit from Matty Long! The children heard about life as an illustrator/author and had a great time learning how to draw some of the Super Happy Magic Forest characters. We can't wait for the stories to hit the TV later this year!

Over the past two weeks, Year R have been learning about dinosaurs. The children have written fact files and stories, as well as role played dinosaurs and created dinosaurs. They have used clay to make their own dinosaurs and explored the shape of their bodies.
