i think one of the purest forms of love is wanting to care for someone without secretly keeping a scorecard. wanting to cook for them because you want them to eat something good. wanting to make something for them simply because you know it’ll make them smile. wanting to hold them because having them close feels right. wanting to take care of the little things because their comfort matters to you. not because you expect something back, but because love naturally makes you want to give. sometimes affection is simply looking at someone and thinking, i want your life to feel a little softer.
I broke my watch because it was keeping her time, not mine. Every second was a measurement of how long it’s been since she blinked. Now I live in a permanent “Now,” where her last cigarette is always burning and the smoke is the only thing that moves.
