Mark - High Tide Trading

I build & sell MT5 Expert Advisors & free tools. Backtests & live results posted - wins & losses. I want to make trading accessible & for everyone to succeed!

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

1/ Most trading accounts only post their winning screenshots. I'd rather show the whole picture. I build trading robots (MT5 Expert Advisors), and this is where I'll document how they're made and how they actually perform.

2/ I've built four so far:
• High Tide follows trends in Bitcoin and Ethereum
• Low Tide day-trades Bitcoin and closes everything before the end of the day
• Rip Tide buys stock indices when they're in a downtrend
• Gold Breakout trades gold when it breaks through key levels

3/ I'll post how each one was built, including the versions that didn't work. Backtests will always be labelled as hypothetical. Live results will be posted whether they're good or bad, drawdowns included.

4/ You won't see trade signals, "copy me" offers or projections of what you could earn.

5/ If one of them stops working, I'll say so. If live trading doesn't match the backtest, I'll post both and try to work out why.

6/ First up is High Tide: where the idea came from (starting on Monday 5th October).

Nothing here is financial advice. CFDs are high risk and most retail traders lose money.

@thesfxtrader I agree. It’s just about priorities

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@MaxTrades_Fx Whatever allows you to risk 1% per trade. From there you can always scale up the capital

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@iamdisplacement I think it’s as lonely as some professional sports

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@raytrdss Algos are better!

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@DaviddDotTech @SystemTheoryHQ Yes. Good strategy 👍

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@kieran__duff I agree 100%!

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@katsinawafx Losses hurt a lot more!

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@SystemTheoryHQ Totally agree! And find a hobby to stop you from tinkering with them all the time!

@tradermike1234 Agree. Backtesting is only the start

My most expensive lesson was a martingale EA.
It won almost every week for 2 years. Then the market kept going against it, it kept adding to the losing trade, and 85% of the account went in 2 days.
It's why none of my robots ever add to a losing position.

@algojan Totally agree. Trading with algos is a much better lifestyle 👍

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@traderjamesfx Depends on the system and what your backtests say imo

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@SystematicPeter Very nice. 👍

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@Ahead_Coach True. If your system has no edge or doesn’t work after costs you can be as disciplined as you’d like like and you won’t make money imo

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@VClouette Seems very true! Especially as prop firm rules make it harder to trade than a normal account imo

[Mark - High Tide Trading @HighTideTrading]

@MaxTrades_Fx Easier to follow with algos. No need to touch your laptop - just saying! 🙂

@fredtrades A portfolio of expert advisors. The less grid/martingale the better.

The High Tide EA is designed to trade alongside the other 4 EA’s in this project. So this is the 1st piece of the puzzle.

High Tide backtest. This is hypothetical: MT5 Strategy Tester, IC Markets data, April 2018 to August 2026, £5,000 start.
Net profit: +£8,401 (+168%) Yearly return: 12.2% Max drawdown: 15.3% Profit factor: 1.38 Trades: 1,999 Win rate: 36%
A backtest shows how the rules would have done on past data. It's a starting point, not a promise. CFDs are high risk.

@CRTwithSaint Agree. Consistency is key whether you’re winning or losing
