After two years of unimaginable loss and suffering for Israeli families and the people of Gaza, we should all be encouraged and relieved that an end to the conflict is within sight; that those hostages still being held will be reunited with their families; and that vital aid can start reaching those inside Gaza whose lives have been shattered. More than that, though, it now falls on Israelis and Palestinians, with the support of the U.S. and the entire world community, to begin the hard task of rebuilding Gaza – and to commit to a process that, by recognizing the common humanity and basic rights of both peoples, can achieve a lasting peace.
Biden's economy (2021-2025) achieved 11% GDP growth, unemployment below 4% for record periods, and inflation tamed from 9%+ to 2.4%, with strong job creation—hardly a disaster. Trump's (2025) shows Q2 GDP at 3%, but overall H1 growth at 1.2%, unemployment at 4.2%, stalled jobs, and tariffs reducing GDP by 0.9% while adding $1,300/household tax—not booming. Facts suggest the reverse.
How we look at others is what counts, because it shows what is in our hearts. We can look and walk by, or we can look and be moved with compassion. #GospelOfToday (Lk 10:25-37)
Post a picture of your favorite sign from today's protests.
I will go first.
I have no clue what city this was taken in, but it made me laugh.
How about you? Show me your favorite sign.
This is appalling. Lawmakers are now being shot and assassinated — targeted for their political beliefs.
We pray for their families. We grieve with Minnesota. We call for peace in our politics.
@WhiteHouse@GavinNewsom A few simple truths:
- Governors have executive control of their state, not the president.
- Gaslighting isn't fact.
- Trump isn't a good president.
And what's happening in Los Angeles isn't an "insurrection." This is.👇
The Ranch Fire in San Bernardino is 4,000 acres and growing.
Meanwhile, 5 of California’s 14 National Guard fire crews are understaffed… because Trump deployed them for a political stunt in LA.
This isn’t just illegal. It’s dangerous.
I have formally requested the Trump Administration rescind their unlawful deployment of troops in Los Angeles county and return them to my command.
We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved. This is a serious breach of state sovereignty — inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they’re actually needed.
Rescind the order. Return control to California.
Donald Trump has manufactured a crisis and is inflaming conditions.
If he can’t solve it, we will.
To the bad actors — Violent acts will not be tolerated. You will be arrested. You will be prosecuted. You are doing more than just damage to buildings and property. You are damaging the very foundation of our republic. Democracy is in the balance. Donald Trump is using you as an excuse to militarize a city and circumvent our democracy.
To the many, many peaceful protesters —we want to keep you safe. We want you to exercise your fundamental rights.
And to our law enforcement on the streets— that are enforcing the laws respectfully and responsibly—we want to keep you safe as well.
But Donald Trump needs to pull back. He needs to stand down.
