I am deeply appalled and angry to see “Firework” used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes. I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it.

I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments. To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for.

My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare.

So this happened in Madrid last night: My boyfriend and I got engaged during Unconditionally.

I would really, really appreciate it if you could help spread this tweet so that Katy might see it. I‘d be so greatful to you❤️.
My boyfriend and I had both been teasing each other that we‘d like to propose to one another this summer but neither of us was really sure when and how. I thought that the OOO tour would be a great opportunity but I didn‘t know which song would fit an engagement (though I‘ve always dreamed of one during Unconditionally).
Before Katy was supposed to sing TOY some fans requested Unconditionally and she decided to sing it! The stars really aligned, I still can‘t believe it.
After the first chorus we both looked at each other and we knew it was the right moment to tell one another that we want to get married.
I‘ve been a fan of Katy for over ten years. If you had asked me in 2015 what my dream engagement would be I would have told you EXACTLY this: During Unconditionally at a Katy Perry concert.
The best is yet to come. Thanks to the love of my life and to Katy, you and your music have always been there for me and always will be. I love you for lifetimes.
Oh, and thanks for putting on a spectacular show although you caught a cold (hope it wasn‘t as bad as the BRITS in 2009 tho)
