"After finishing the book, I couldn't help but think:
'I don't see how anyone who's actually operating in good faith could read this book and not agree with the conclusion that the Bitcoin project was hijacked.'"

Not gonna lie, noticing how Las Vegas boulevard is surrounded by Ripple ads triggered me a bit
“Why isn’t it Bitcoin?”, I thought
But then again, what’s the difference? If you’re gonna use BTC and XRP speculatively without making any payments, they are mere tickers in your portfolio.
It doesn’t matter that one is centralized and the other one is decentralized if they’re used in the exact same way.
And after seeing so many otherwise hardcore bitcoiners tap their cards to pay in Vegas (a few of them were even happy to pay with their Gemini cards because they earn BTC on the exchange), I’m more bearish than ever on this community
If the guys who preach about the separation of money and state choose not to use the freedom tech for payments, we’re really screwed
And also, in this scenario there’s no fundamental difference between BTC and XRP. They’re just speculative investments 🤷🏻♂️
BCH & BTC community have found consensus.
BTC has only deteriorated for exactly the last 8-9 years.
Experts remain mystified as to what changed at that moment in time.
It's easy to think you're the good guy when you're on the side of power.
Critics of power see a very different world.
Continue criticizing, and you'll eventually reach the same conclusion as the big blockers did years ago.
Bitcoin was actually hijacked by Bitcoin Core via Blockstream. The conspiracies were true, and it likely connects to an even greater conspiracy involving establishment financial/political powers.
I look forward to the day where small blockers can honestly look in the mirror and say "Were we the baddies?"
There's still something we can do about it.
"I can never be sure, but it seems like Gloria’s was pre-arranged — decided upfront and the IRC meeting and the PR discussion was just democracy theater. Seems like this is how new maintainers are being selected — existent ones decide privately and announce their decision to the public in the form of a nomination. At this point most people would be anxious to speak against the decision or against a most likely future maintainer."

Only a minimal distinction between BTC and... shares of a dividend paying stock.
Who cares though? The promise of free money is too appealing.
I don't want to wish for anyone's financial demise, but the closer we get to "Government buys crypto stocks with taxpayer funds", the less empathetic I feel.
This is very TRUE!! Roger is the reason Bitcoin is where it is today, and should be acknowledges for his great business acumen, vision, and achievements!! ✨
We have to separate the original goals of Bitcoin from what BTC has become
If we truly cared about financial freedom & building crypto up as an alternative to fiat money
Then we should criticize BTC & support chains that can actually deliver on Satoshi's original vision now!
