Memorable encounter with a #NewForest red deer stag today.
On the heath, watching stonechats & meadow pippits, totally oblivious to anything outside the field of view of my binoculars, totally failed to see this chap emerge from the adjacent woodland! Then he was ALL I could see!

In a week I've found and reported two separate flytipping incidents in the National Park, one to FE and one to NFDC, this is good news!

Finally caught up with some Devils Fingers fungi this morning - saw one and shortly after at least 8 more fruiting, plus more "eggs" nearly ready to emerge...

It was a very atmospheric early morning patrol in the Ober Heath area today... first time this year when it has really felt anything like being autumnal, with sporadic noisy cascades of leaves & nuts falling from the canopy & sounding like rain...

Soggy start to our Bank Holiday patrol but actually turned out relatively nice!
Only the most keen of walkers were out, all showing due #CareForTheForest.
Everyone (& their dog..) knew to #StayOnTheTracks, & everyone was walking back with loaded poo bags💩🙂
