While it's clear that cars *are* extremely useful, plenty of people have realised the urban problems they cause.
Many cities around the world now intend to reduce the presence of cars in their centres, if not remove them completely.
A long overdue and welcome development?
This is why so many cities don't seem particularly suitable for people, both in how they look and how they can be used.
Because they haven't been designed for people, they've been designed for cars.
@TNC_73@ddofinternet (2/2) and oysters are not the only thing we eat. It's already shown microplastics and insecticides have shown in the body's bloodstream, especially in lower income countries. It's a real health concern
@TNC_73@ddofinternet In ecology we have biomagnification, which is where poison builds up in the food chain. Essentially — say a shrew has ingested 0.7 grams of a select posion. A raptor will eat about 7 of those in a week. Within a week, that's 4.9 — possibly deadly. We are top predators (1/2)
@ddofinternet You might be in one of the light reserves! As part of wildlife and heritage conversation there's a lot of projects across the UK to keep designated areas completely light pollution free and as a result you get brilliant night skies like that. They're called dark skies
It’s not your job to convince these people. They can’t be convinced. You can’t communicate with someone if you don’t share basic premises like “racism exists.” Or if they pretend to believe it’s conceptually impossible that White Replacement Theory could motivate violence
